Breeja Larson secures Women’s 200m breaststroke gold – Swimming News
Breeja Larson of Aggie Swim Club secured gold medal of the Women’s 200m breaststroke on second day of the 2013 Phillips 66 National Championships & World Championship Trials in Indianapolis on Wednesday, June 26.
The 21-year-old Larson devastated hopes of her opponents in the 200m discipline as she rushed her way towards the finishing wall for first position. With her notable pace, she stayed in a comfortable lead over her closest competitor
and raked the wall for gold medal.
She enjoyed a comfortable lead over her toughest swimmer as she sprinted her way towards the finishing end for the title with the timing of 2 minutes and 23.44 seconds.
The champion was chased by Micah Lawrence of SwimMAC Carolina, who was 1.25 seconds behind and secured silver medal of the event by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 24.69 seconds.
The silver medallist was chased by Laura Sogar of Bluefish Swim Club, who was 0.17 seconds behind and completed the podium by winning bronze medal with the timing of 2 minutes and 24.86 seconds.
Fourth position of the race was obtained by Katy Freeman of Santa Barbara SC, who was 0.65 seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing end by producing a time of 2 minutes and 25.51 seconds.
Fifth spot of the event was obtained by Annie Zhu of North Baltimore, who was 1.01 seconds slower and touched the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 26.52 seconds.
Sixth spot of the race was secured by Andrea Kropp of Una Troj-CA/RATT, who was 2.08 seconds slower and concluded her race in a time of 2 minutes and 28.60 seconds.
Seventh fastest spot of the event was secured by Caitlin Leverenz of California Aquatics, who was 0.52 seconds behind and posted 2 minutes and 29.32 seconds.
Eighth position of the event was gained by Molly Hannis of Tennessee Aquatics, who was considerably slower from her former finisher and clocked a time of 2 minute and 31.17 seconds.
In addition, Larson was delighted with her top finish in the race while the winners collected medals and accolades at the victory ceremony of the event.
