Breeja Larson wins Women’s 100m breaststroke title – Swimming news
Breeja Larson of Aggie Swim Club won gold medal of the Women’s 100m breaststroke on fourth day of the 2013 Phillips 66 National Championships & World Championship Trials in Indianapolis on Friday, June 28.
Larson experienced strong resistance from her following swimmer in the double lap breaststroke event but with her strong determination, she managed to occupy the title.
Larson, who qualified into the playoff as second best finisher, was eager to secure her spot in the US team to the world titles. With her epic start and commendable race, she managed to outsmart her opponents over the finishing end for gold medal with an
effort of 1 minute and 06.16 seconds.
Larson was chased by Jessica Hardy of Trojan Swim Club, who failed to sustain her fastest qualifying effort and finished second in the race with the timing of 1 minute and 06.49 seconds.
Micah Lawrence of SwimMAC Carolina, who was 0.80 seconds behind and ended her race in third place by submitting a time of 1 minute and 07.27 seconds, chased Hardy.
The third best finisher was chased by Molly Hannis of Tennessee Aquatics, who was only an inch apart and finished her race in fourth place by posting a time of 1 minute and 07.48 seconds.
Hannis was chased by Laura Sogar of Bluefish Swim Club, who was 0.40 seconds away from her preceding finisher and touched the finishing end for fifth place with an effort of 1 minute and 07.88 seconds.
Katy Freeman of Santa Barbara SC, who was just an inch slower and clocked a time of 1 minute and 08.00 seconds, obtained sixth position of the swim.
Ashley Wanland of Wisconsin Aquatics, who was prominently slower and tapped the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 09.02 seconds, followed Freeman.
Wanland was trailed by Justin Mueller of T2 Aquatics-FL, who finished eighth in the race with the timing of 1 minute and 09.22 seconds.
In addition, Larson and Hardy were overjoyed after securing their spot to the 2013 World Championships while the winners collected accolades after the session.
