Breidis Prescott: Clash with Danny Garcia inevitable as he is also a Khanqueror now – Boxing news
Breidis Prescott, the former WBO Intercontinental lightweight champion, has said that he is now looking for a bout with Danny Garcia as he has become only the second person to knock out Amir Khan after him.
Prescott who is currently scheduled to take on American proud Francisco Figueroa, the former NABF light welterweight champion, shared the thoughts during a brief media interaction.
The 29-year-old Colombian was the first man who was able to shut Khan’s lights out. Prescott achieved the feat in the very first round and gifted the Bolton proud his very first loss.
Since then Breidis has been given the nickname of ‘Khanqueror’. Also known as ‘Braidys’, Prescott while sharing his thoughts stated, “In a way, I enjoyed the notoriety of being the only fighter to ever knock him out but it was also pretty clear he was never
going to face me again. I chased him for years offering him the chance to redeem himself and he was always too frightened to take it. Now that there's a new guy at the top of the division, maybe he'll have a little more courage to take the tough fights against
guys like me.”
When asked about how he feels to have another Khanqueror, the Colombian proud commented that he is the pioneer in power punching, adding that he now needs a new achievement in fact a ‘new claim to fame’.
Prescott has been in a total of 29 bouts, boasting 25 wins with a huge 20 coming by way of knockout. Furthermore, Breidis has collided with pretty intimidating names though the outcome of those high-profile bouts was not favourable yet the invaluable experience
gained has aided him well in evolving into a perfect somewhat flawless brawler.
When asked as to how he feels about his upcoming opponent Francisco Figueroa, Prescott commented, “He's a good fighter but he can't take my power. No one can when I'm feeling as good as I am now.”
Later on, Prescott also shared his intense desire of knocking anyone out for the first time, the reason why critics are hypothecating a possible future clash between Danny Garcia and Breidis Prescott – the two Khanquerors colliding to determine who has the
most lethal raw powered knockout punch.
Prescott will take on Figueroa in an eight-round non-title bout, co-headlining the fight card televised live from Doubletree Miamimart Hotel in Miami, Florida, United States on August 18, 2012.
