Brek Shea ends two-month goal drought against Vancouver Whitecaps – MLS News

The player travelled more than 1700 miles in the last two months, playing on multiple fronts: MLS, CONCACAF Champions League and the US national team.
Shea had not scored since August 13 and fortunately for FCD, the midfielder found the back of the net to end the barren run. The timing could not have been better for the Toros, who prepare for the postseason that starts in a month’s time.
Shea came back from the US camp two days prior to the match against the Canadian foes. However, despite the tiring schedule, the left-winger played out the entire 90 minutes and scored a goal, proving that he is a major contender for the 2011 MLS Most Valuable
Player title.
Although Dallas are a strong group in the league with players like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ricardo-Villar-c31036 in the roster, Shea’s presence makes them more lethal, according to head coach Schellas Hyndman.
“We have a strong group no matter who is on the field, but I don’t think there’s any question we’re more dangerous with Brek out there” Hyndman said.
The Hoops had to endure a disappointing September, where they posted only two wins on all fronts. Shea has now admitted that he was not in the best of forms back then.
“Last month was hard because the team wasn’t playing well and I wasn’t playing well,” said Shea, “but we’ve been working on some things in practice and I feel a lot better and more ready for the playoffs now.”
The FCD skipper and midfielder, Daniel Hernandez, aggravated his knee injury against Vancouver, and Shea’s presence in the midfield has now become even more important. The medical report on Hernandez’s injury is yet to arrive, which will suggest whether
the captain can play the postseason or not.
