Werder Bremen Director of Sport Klaus Allofs and manager Thomas Schaaf have signed a extensions to their respective contracts, the club revealed on Monday.
Club Chairman Willi Lemke revealed that the duo has signed new deals in a press conference in Bremen. The club had earlier stated that the decision on the future of Allofs and Schaaf would be taken before the winter break starts
which is why the contracts were resolved this month.
Schaaf signed a new two-year deal whereas Allofs extended his contract with three years. There had been widespread speculation after the last season ended on the future of the duo as Bremen had a dismal campaign. But this season
has so far been impressive and the side is currently placed fifth on the Bundesliga standings table with 29 points.
Allofs is elated with the news and has set his sights on a successful campaign this year. He admitted that it is great that he will be able to continue his partnership with Thomas Schaaf and is privileged to be part of the club
for so long.
“Today is a beautiful day. We have followed a long and successful path together and it is now an attractive challenge to proceed even further along it. We want to build on the successes of recent years,” the Sporting Director was
quoted as saying in an interview.

“It is fantastic that we can further continue our mutual path. We have a lot in mind and we want to carry on trying to give our team a distinctive face,” he added.
Thomas Schaaf led the River Islanders to the Bundesliga title in 2004 and has also won the DFB-Pokal on three occasions. The 50-year old has spent his entire career with the club as he also played for the club for 17 years.
