New Werder Bremen signing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mehmet-Ekici-c25163 has stated that he can still improve and is hopeful of a good start to the next season with his new club. He denied comparisons with former Bremen player Mesut Ozil and stated that every player is different in his own way.
The Turkish international joined Die Werderaner last month from Bayern Munich in a fee estimated to be in the 5 million Euro range. The midfielder spent the last season on-loan with FC Nurnberg and guided the club to an impressive sixth placed finish in the Bundesliga.
Ekici has expressed his satisfaction on the season gone by and insisted that he is happy with his performances. He added that there is still room for improvement and was confident of a good season ahead.
“My first football season was pretty good, but I need to and want to develop myself further,” he was quoted as saying.
The former Bayern Munich player revealed that former German international Mehmet Scholl had advised him to join Bremen. He stated that Scholl is a great friend and he has http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Total-c40747 trust in him.
“Scholl has helped me to make the decision for Werder. He's become a good friend, we have a tight wire. I owe him a lot! ,” he continued.
The player also denied comparisons drawn by Scholl that he would be Bremen’s new Mesut Ozil, stating that every player is different and that he wants to prove himself.
“I do not know if it's true! I do not like these comparisons, each player is different,” the midfielder added.
Ekici insisted that he has always dreamed of playing for a great club and now he has finally got the opportunity. He added that he wants to win and hopes for great success with his new club.
“Of course. In Bavaria, one learns early on to always want to win. That there is already instilled in youth players. I will of course also show at Werder,” he concluded.
