Brendan Hansen secures Men’s 100m breast-stroke heat – 2011 USA Swimming Long Course Nationals
Day one of the 2011 USA Swimming Long Course Nationals got-off to a perfect start with the scintillating splash of Longhorn Aquatic’s swimmer, Brendan Hansen in Paloalto, California, on Tuesday, August 2.
The session of the long course heat conducted the Men’s 100m breast-stroke meet, in which Hansen gave his best try and notched the race with a winning time of 1 minute and 00.17 seconds.
Previously, Hansen took home two gold medals in the 4x100m Medley events at both the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Games, in Athens and Beijing, respectively. In addition, he has won many World and Pan Pacific Championships titles also.
Meanwhile, Mic Alexandrov of Una Troj wound up second in 1 minute and 00.70 seconds, whereas, Marcus Titus of Tucson Ford Deal was placed third in a time of 1 minute and 00.80 seconds. Kevin Swander of SwimMAC Carolina finished fourth in 1 minute and 01.15
seconds, while John Criste of Trojan Swim Club settled fifth in a time of 1 minute and 01.50 seconds. Eric Friedland of Longhorn Aquatic earned sixth place honours with a time of 1 minute and 01.57 seconds.
Eric Shanteau of Una Troj wound up seventh in 1 minute and 01.99 seconds, while Kevin Cordes of Fox Valleny Swim was placed eighth in 1 minute and 02.08 seconds. Bernar Johnson of Stanford Swimmin settled ninth in a time of 1 minute and 02.13 seconds, whereas,
Rober Lovelace finished tenth in 1 minute and 02.14 seconds.
Earlier in the day, Dana Vollmer snared the Women’s 100m butterfly prelims with an impressive time of 57.68 seconds, while Western Kentucky’s Claire Donahue finished second in 58.91 seconds. Stanford Swimmin’ Elaine Breeden rounded out the top three after
she touched the finishing wall in 59.04 seconds.
Moreover, Una Scal’s Charle Houchin won the Men’s 400m freestyle preliminary heat with a triumphant time of 3 minutes and 48.03 seconds. Snow Swimming’s Matthew Mclean was placed second in 3 minutes and 49.53 seconds, while Club Wolverine’s Matthew Patton
finished third in 3 minutes and 49.91 seconds.
