Brendan Jones and the 5 place deficit for the 2011 Masters
The Augusta national will be commencing from the 7th of April, 2011 and has a sizeable amount of golfers aiming for the Masters field. The competitive field will be welcoming 50 players from the world ranking list and
currently has Brendan Jones aiming for the 2011 invitation.
According to reports, the 1999 turned professional has to overcome a 5 place stretch to earn the 2011 US Masters invitation.
The Australian golfer ended his 2010 spell after attaining the 55th place in the world ranking and is currently hoping to climb up the ladder to grab the qualification for the Masters.
As far as the world rankings are concerned, the golfers who make it to the top 50 are the automatically qualify for the 2011 Masters summon. With 50 golfers making it to the Augusta GC, the Qualifying is still possible for those
hopefuls who are able to finish in the top 50 before April starts, which is exactly one week before the tournament.
The golfer from Australia has bagged a total amount of Australian $991,000 which was earned after his Japan Tour from the 2010 spell. Jones thus stood in 7th place in the Japan’s Tour money list and earned the honour
of becoming the leading foreigner.
The thirty-five year old golfer has 9 Japan Golf Tour victories and one Nationwide Tour win and finished his three majors with the best finish of 24th place at the US PGA Championship in 2009.
Now all Jones need to do is to move up the ranking ladder in the next three months and try to earn a place in the rankings in order to play against his fellow compatriots Robert Allenby, Stuart Appleby, Adam Scott, Geoff Ogilvy
and Jason Day.
From the above stated line-up, Jason Day finished his year with the 37th place in the world rankings. The twenty-three year old won the Byron Nelson Championship as his maiden win for 2010 and will be playing the Masters
for the first time.
Along with golfers like Day making their debut, Phil Mickelson is all set to defend his title while Tiger Woods is hoping to end his winless 10 majors stint.
With the 50 golfers from the 2010 rankings, the annual tee-off will be holding a total of a 92 player contest next April and will hold a mixture of newcomers and the already established contestants ready to battle out their skills
at the Augusta National Golf Club.
