Brendan Jones wins The Crowns Championship in a play-off – Japan Golf Tour

Australian Brendan Jones has won The Crowns Championship played under the auspicious Japan Golf Tour hosted by the par-70, Nagoya Golf Club in Japan on May 1.
Jones played well during all four days and managed a victory. He had a moderate round of even-par, 70 on the final round and had to face I. J. Jang in a play-off situation. Both these players had a same four day score of nine-under par
after completing their final rounds.
The 36-year-old Jones never looked like he was under any pressure while he was playing on the extra hole against Jang. He made a birdie on the first extra hole to emerge as the champion. Jang only settled for a par as he missed his birdie
putt by a couple of inches from the hole.
Jones had a two shot lead over his nearest competitor Jang in the final round. He managed to post a round of 70 as was playing as the leader. Certainly, there was pressure on the Australian. Brendan only had a single birdie and a single
bogey on his score card.
The veteran Jones had a birdie on his very first hole and bogey on the par-3, 4th. This was a great win for the Australian professional who added this to his total career victories. He had a four day total aggregate score
of nine-under par, 271.
Jones has a lot of experience playing on the Japan Golf Tour as he celebrated his tenth win playing on this tour. He now has a total of 12 wins as a professional and is confident of improving his record.
The youngster Jang was a little disappointed by not making a birdie on the extra play-off hole. Although he managed to card a round of two-under par, 68, it was not enough for him to secure a win.
Jang had three bogeys followed by five birdies. His bogeys came on holes number 3, 12 and 16. The youngster played well during all four days but was a bit short of winning the tournament.
Three players shared the third place after the final round concluded. The experienced Shingo Katayama, Koichiro Kawano and Sung-Joon Park, all had an identical score after the championship. They had a four day total score of eight-under
par, 272 and finished just one shot behind the champion.
Experienced Katayama carded a superb round of four-under par, 66 on tough playing conditions. He made four birdies and did not make a single mistake during his round. This score helped him improve his position on the final score board.
Defending champion Ryo Ishikawa failed to produce his excellence on the final day. He finished tied at the 12th place.
Jones picked up the beautiful trophy and the winner’s purse of ¥24,000,000.
