http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BP-Nash-c1183 signs up with Doutta Stars – Cricket News Update
After recently announcing his exit from the Jamaican squad, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 deputy and Test batsman, Brendan Nash, has signed up to play with the Doutta Stars Cricket Club in the Victorian Turf Cricket Association this year.
For the matter, Nash will now be stepping foot at Buckley Park, in Essendon, where the top-order batsman will represent his new Australian outfit in this year’s upcoming North Division season.
Prior to Nash, the Doutta Stars wanted to add another Caribbean player to their ranks but according to speculations, with Nash already on a flight to his home country, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, the club did not hesitate much on welcoming the player on board.
“We were in negotiation with a West Indian cricketer (Franklyn) but couldn’t get his sports visa,” Doutta Stars club president Paul Gleeson said.
“But CricX (a management company) made us aware of Brendan’s availability. We had a clean run at getting access to Brendan and made a very attractive proposal to his management,” he added.
As for now, it has been reported that Nash has agreed on all the terms put forward to him by the Doutta Stars management, and is said to be making his arrival on Thursday, next week, where the batsman will gear up to face the Westmeadows Cricket Club, on
October 8, 2011, in the season opener.
However, Nash will not only be playing for the Doutta Stars, the batsman will also be involved in the club’s junior development.
Nash, 33, premiered his first-class cricket career with the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Queensland-c834 Bulls in 2000, where he spent almost 6 years.
However, having dropped out on his contract renewal with the Queensland outfit, Nash opted to pursue other opportunities in Jamaica, his father’s heritage country, where the batter matured into securing a place on the West Indies national squad.
As for now, things have not been working so well with Nash and his Caribbean national team. After having been excluded from the squad during the later stages of their recent home series against the Indian visitors, Nash has once again been asked to sit out
from the West Indies’ team, which is scheduled tour to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747, next month.
