http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 boss, Brendan Rodgers revealed that he was weighing up the option of loaning out the Reds 35 million pounds striker, Andy Carroll during the transfer window.
However, he mentioned that he will make an assessment of the entire squad after their pre-season fixtures before taking any final decision on the matter.
The English International arrived at the Merseyside club in January 2011 from Newcastle United for a club record transfer fee. Even though much was said about the striker’s talent and the impact that he could make on Anfield, Carroll failed to live up to
the expectations of his whooping price tag, scoring just 11 goals in 56 appearances.
With the Northern Irishman having geared up his transfer activities this week, he hinted that Carroll(who remained a surplus at Liverpool throughout the previous term)could be loaned out in order to give him an opportunity of acquiring more experience and
playing time.
He told the reporters in an interview, “Sometimes a player going out on loan — in general, not just Andy — can benefit the club in the long term. It gets them game experience, and they come back a better player, a more confident one. Certainly more so than
if they’ve been sitting on the bench for the majority of the season.”
Liverpool will play three friendly matches against Toronto, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 and Tottenham Hotspur by the end of July, and one more versus Leverkusen in August, before kicking off their 2012/13 campaign on 18th of August.
Rodgers divulged that whether or not Carroll will play a part in the Reds campaign will rely on his performance during the pre-season games, and insisted that the same implied on a lot of other players in the squad too.
He added that he has no doubts over the striker’s talent and his ability of winning matches for his team, but explained that he needs to take all the factors into consideration while building up the formation.
“He’s no different to any player we have here, they might have all the attributes but not the mentality to play. He’s a good kid, a good lad.”
