Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers has offered his support to under-fire Chelsea skipper John Terry, who is currently facing allegations of racism.
The 31-year-old was accused by Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Anton-Ferdinand-c6260 of racial abuse because of which he has now been ruled out of the upcoming English Premier League clash against Swansea City on the 1st of February, the same day his Magistrates
Court hearing is scheduled to take place.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international time off to deal with his personal issues so they did not affect his game. It could be for this reason that Terry has been ruled out of the Swansea City clash
with a reported knee injury.
Rodgers, whose side will go into the fixture as underdogs against the Blues, has previously worked with John Terry when he was the reserve and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/U-17-Youth-team-c40787 manager from 2004 to 2008 at Chelsea. He claimed to know the England captain and confirmed he was not
racist.
Rodgers said while speaking to reporters:
“He is a strong personality, John is a good man and from my time knowing him, and what he is being talked about in terms of the charges against him, I can safely say in my period of time working with him that he is not a racist, if that's what he's been
pointed the finger as being.”
The Northern Irish manager revealed he had great confidence in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895’s innocence, having proved his worth as skipper for the Blues over the years. He admitted he knew a great deal about the central defender, having worked closely with him during his
time at Stamford Bridge.
According to Rodgers the case had gained popularity since Terry, who was a public figure, was involved. The Swansea City manager also pointed out that this was not the first time something like this had been brought to the lime light, something regarding
Terry’s personal life.
He revealed:
“I always found his communication open. He is a lover of football and he is happiest when he is on the field or with his family, and I have nothing but high praise for him as in that period when I was there he was a real icon for the football club on
and off the field.”
