The Liverpool manager says that he is looking to bring in more players before the summer transfer window ends as Liverpool need to strength their squad to compete against the big boys in the upcoming Premier League season...
Brendan Rodgers has hinted that Liverpool are in negotiations with several other clubs regarding their identified transfer targets but the former Swansea City manager has refused to take any names thus far.
Liverpool have had an average summer transfer window so far as they have signed Joe Allen from Swansea City and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 but things do not look good at Anfield where the depth and quality in the squad is lacking
when seen in comparison to Manchester City and Manchester United as well as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 failed to secure a UEFA Champions League qualification place last season under Dalglish and also lost to Chelsea in the F.A Cup final. Ever since taking over at Anfield, Rodgers has always maintained that he is looking
to build the club in the longer term rather than looking to challenge immediately for the Premier League title.
Nonetheless, Liverpool will want to challenge convincingly for the UEFA Champions League qualification places, something that will require challenging the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429, Tottenham and even Newcastle United. Rodgers has also
made it clear that he is determined to bring an offensive style of football to Liverpool and change the way the club players and that will need certain type of players who can do a specific http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684.
The former Swansea City man said, "There has been contact and communication with the clubs. The team of people behind myself are working very, very hard in relation to those targets. We hope that within the next number of weeks
those will bear fruit.”
He added, "The work has been continual right the way through to try and get in players that fit the profile of Liverpool and the team. I would hope there would be a couple more signings before the end of August."
Liverpool kick off their league campaign this weekend and Rodgers will hope that his plans can come into practice sooner rather than later as it was inconsistency in the Premier League that eventually cost Kenny Dalglish his job
at Anfield much more than anything else.
