Brendan Rodgers regrets leaving Watford
Swansea City boss Brendan Rodgers has said that he regrets leaving Watford after he left the club to join Reading in June 2009.
The Swansea manger will bring his team to Watford’s Vicarage Road as he tries to take Swansea’s first points this season away from home.
The Welsh club have shown outstanding form at home and have won all their games. This has left Swansea three spots off the promotion places after eight games of the season.
Rodgers left in acrimonious fashion after just spending seven months at the club. "In hindsight it proved to be the wrong move for me to leave, but I went with my gut feeling at the time," said Rodgers.
He added, "That's all you can do as a human being. [Watford] is a place I'll never forget and I obviously don't expect to get a good reception from the fans. I'm sure it will be frosty."
The manager had a disappointing spell after he moved from Watford to Reading. He spent only six months at the club before he was sacked. Rodgers only picked up five wins in 21 games during his time at Reading.
Rodgers was given another chance at Swansea City after Paulo Sousa left the club to join Leicester City during the summer. The appointment was considered a surprise after the manager’s disastrous period at Reading
The manager has had a mixed season so far. Swansea suffered another loss away from home to Nottingham Forest last weekend. They have lost all four away games and Rodgers is under pressure, despite Swansea’s wonderful home form this season.
The Welsh club will be expecting to gain promotion this season after narrowly missing out on play-off spots in consecutive seasons. A win for Rodgers away to his old club would relieve some of the pressure in relation to the team’s away form.
