West Ham United are keen on signing the attacker on a permanent deal this summer after the player has impressed in the last few months at the club. Rodgers admitted that he has had a good chat with the player and the tactician is hopeful that a decision will be made in the next few weeks.
“I spoke to him and we had a good chat. It's just something we need to assess between now and the end of the window,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former Swansea City manager admitted that the striker made the right move by joining West Ham on a one-year loan deal as he would have had limited chances at Liverpool.
“At the start of the season the whole thing was about going and getting games because he wasn't going to be a starter here. We will talk again with him and the club to see how it all evolves. It's one of those situations where it will probably be resolved
a lot quicker than that for both parties. The objective at the beginning of the season was for him to go out and play,” he concluded.
Andy Carroll had an impressive season at West Ham as he scored seven times for Sam Allardyce’s men. He is expected to move to the club as he may not be able to make a mark at Anfield in the presence of Luis Suarez.
