The former Swansea City manager who is now in charge at Liverpool as revealed that Lucas is set to make a comeback for the Reds on the weekend in a pre-season friendly from his long-standing anterior cruciate ligament problem...
Rodgers has confirmed that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lucas-c22528 Leiva is set to make a comeback for Liverpool in their latest friendly match on the weekend after a long period out of action due to his ligament problem. Lucas was performing at his peak for Liverpool
last season when he was bogged down due to an anterior cruciate ligament problem.
The Brazilian midfielder was impressive under Kenny Dalglish’s management at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 and patrolled in front of the Liverpool defence which helped the Reds keep clean sheets. However after his injury, Liverpool saw a dip in form
which cannot be directly attributed to Lucas’ injury concerns but it cannot be denied that his fitness issues did play a part in their slip down the Premier League table.
The former Gremio star has not played a single first team match for Liverpool since last November but he will now be slowly incorporated back into the team starting with Liverpool’s pre-season action this weekend. Rodgers’ will
be happy to have Lucas back into his team as Liverpool have indeed missed him but now it is up to the Brazilian to prove that the injury has not taken away anything from his talent.
The Liverpool manager said, "He'll have some involvement. He's still got some way to go to get back to where he was before the injury but he's back two months early. This is normally a nine-month injury. He's been back in seven,
and that's great credit to his work and the work of the medics here.”
He added, "He's done very, very well and is working very hard. We can feed him into some of the games and increase his mental capacity to improve, because obviously it was a serious injury. He's a great guy, he loves his football,
loves this club, and he's making great progress."
Rodgers also stated that Lucas might get some time out on the field in Liverpool’s pre-season campaign in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Canada-c748 but no player from the club will get more than 45 minutes of playing time as the new manager wants to try and test
all the players in his squad.
