Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers revealed that he met with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 to discuss his future at Anfield and he plans on giving the midfielder another chance to prove his mettle at the Merseyside club.
The 30-year old, currently an employ of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, was sent to Lille on a season long loan in August last year, after he failed to make an impact at Anfield. However, the English International enjoyed a successful one year stint with the French outfit, netting
9 goals in 42 appearances and also picked 6 assists during this period.
Cole signed a four-year deal with Liverpool in July 2010. After serving out his stipulated one year spell at Lille, the midfielder faces an uncertain future over his possible destination in the coming season, with some reports suggesting that he might part
ways with the Reds in order to seek a more prominent role.
However, Rodgers indicated that he plans on paving a way for the player’s return to Anfield and had no doubts over his exceptional talent.
He told the reporters in an interview, “I met up with Joe Cole when I was in Spain, [and] I certainly know he's looking to come back.”
“He’s a very talented player. He's obviously gone out to Lille and done very well and he has the opportunity to come back here and show his qualities.”
The 39-year old Irishman stated that he is currently assessing the strengths and weaknesses of the squad and despite being aware of the calibre of most of the players, he required time to implement his ideas effectively, in order to reap maximum benefit
out of the them.
Rodgers was officially announced as the manager of Liverpool on 1st of June, following a two-week long search since the sacking of the former Anfield boss Kenny Dalglish.
Even though Rodgers commended the reign of the Kop legend, he believed that his appointment had left the door ajar for all the players and will serve as an opportunity for them to seek a fresh start under his management.
He added, “When a new manager comes into any club, it always sparks off that renewed motivation for players.”
