Brendan Shanahan?

Question

I heard that NYR is not going to be re-signing him, and that he's interested in Pittsburgh. Is there any other news on this? Or has he signed with someone yet?

I haven't heard this one yet.  I would definitely welcome him to the Pens, but it might lead to too many new faces at once on the team.  If they were to put him on the Malkin-Sykora line, I could see it meshing pretty well.

He hasnt signed but I heard he was first interested in NJ on July 1st then that cooled down to being interested in Montreal...I haven't heard anything for a bit now.  I will be very happy if he signs anywhere but NYR and even happier if it is NJ.

According to this release on July 9th, he still wants to be a Ranger. His agent is still in talks with them.

Whether or not he becomes a Ranger this release listed no other teams.

interested in Pittsburgh - it's been reported that Shannahan contacted Shero and expressed his interest in playing for Pittsburgh, but it doesn't appear that RS shares his interest in signing him (however, since then, it's rumored that Sidney may be pushing for the Pens to give him more of a look).

hmm well I'm not sure but I personally would not be too happy if he signed with the Pens after watching him play on the Wings for a good while

they say he might sign with the devils and if hey does they will have there old team again but i have not herd any thing on him going to pittsburg.

Jason-  DET? And what will DET pay him? 500k? Det let him go a few years back, why would they want to sign him? Det doesnt just let people go for no reason.....

If I was Glen Sather, I would stay away from Shanny. He slowed down since the middle of the season and have never looked good since and besides he's taking if he re-signs, he's basically taking a spot from Lauri Korpikoski, who got his 1st NHL goal in his 1st NHL game vs Pittsburgh in Game 6.

of course he wants to play with crosby in pittsburgh but he should come to washingtion.  No one could stop he if he played with backstrom and ovechkin.

I have heard he is interested in NJ, but as he is not signed with them or anyone yet... it's still up in the air.

I know I would be thrilled if he signed with NJ.

I would like to see Toronto pick him up to help guide the youth of tomorrow.

But he would be an admirable replacement for Roberts in Pittsburgh, but he'd have to take a large pay cut so they could afford him.

I'm thinking that an incentives based contract will be coming his way. For the first time in his career he appears to be getting prone to injury and it's hurting his game a little bit.
