Brendan Taylor takes over the Captaincy of Zimbabwe as new squads announced – Cricket News Update
Zimbabwe has announced its squad, which will play against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 ‘A’.
The tri series will be followed by the two four day games against Australia ‘A’ and the first match will be played from July 15 to 18, 2011, at Country Club, Harare.
They have announced two different squads for One Day Internationals and a warm up match which will be played for two days ahead of their four day games.
The selection committee has gone for form and fitness of the players instead of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adam-Richard-Griffith-c41953 names, their assistant coach, Stephen Mangongo, commented on the selection as,
"Everyone knows that you have to be on top of your game to be selected. It's not about the names and this is the challenge that most of the players have been facing in the last six weeks. Each player has to prove himself."
Brendan Taylor, who has played 118 One Day Internationals and nine T20, matches, has been announced as a Captain in the limited overs games.
Vusi Sibanda, the veteran of three Tests, 87 ODIs and three T20s, will be leading the side in a two-day warm-up match, which will be played on July 11.
The national coach of Zimbabwe, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Alan-Raymond-Butcher-c42769, was fully satisfied with the training and selection process of the players and hoped they will perform well against the visiting sides. He stressed that the players have responded well
in the camp and special attention was given to their fitness, however, their credibility will be assessed in the matches against the two sides.
"But we cannot be able to judge the progress made so far unless we play other opposition. The proof will be in the pudding when we start playing more against other sides. South Africa and Australia have named strong sides and it's
going to be some tough cricket. But it's good for us ahead of our first Test match in six years," added http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Butcher-c48849.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915 has taken over the Captaincy from Elton Chigumbura and Zimbabwe anticipates he can bring out the best from the present squad, which will be a step towards better cricket in the country.
