New Zealand international cricket player, Brendon Diamanti has announced his retirement from all forms of the game. Diamanti gave the reason for his early retirement as wanting to spend more time with
his family.
Diamanti, who is only 29, featured in an ODI for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 in 2009. His first class career started in 2003-04 for
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Central-Districts-c777 and he always played for them throughout their seven-year long career at the first class level.
Speaking to the New Zealand Players Association, Diamanti said, "After some months of deliberation I have decided that my priorities in life have changed and I want to spend more time with my family. I also
felt that I had achieved what I wanted as a player at first-class level and that the time was right to step aside and allow someone else the opportunity."
Diamanti was an all-rounder who played in 27 first class matches and 59 List A games. He scored 952 runs in first class cricket at an average of less than 26 and 815 runs in List A games at 28.1. He had a
total of two centuries and eight half-centuries in his career.
In the only ODI that he played, he made an unbeaten 26 off 22 balls before the game was called off due to inclement weather. In the T20I arena, he bowled a couple of overs, conceded 19 runs and did not get
the opportunity to bat. New Zealand went on to lose the game by a run.
Central Districts chief executive, Hugh Henderson said: "We are sad to be losing Brendon to retirement as he has been a major contributor both on and off the field. Brendon is a complete professional and
has always demonstrated the commitment and work ethic required to succeed."
