http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BB-McCullum-c1129 remains on Brisbane Heat’s radar – Cricket News Update
Owing to his international commitments, New Zealand batsman Brendon McCullum will not be featuring in the line-up for Brisbane Heat during the upcoming second edition of the Big Bash League – however, he is likely to remain on the team’s radar, as confirmed
by head coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Darren-Scott-Lehmann-c52487.
“Unfortunately his commitments with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 this time made it very hard for Baz to come back with us this time,” said Lehmann. “We’ll miss him around the group because he bought a lot of fun and enjoyment to the team when he was with us. But he’s still
keen to see what we can work out down the track so we’ll be staying in contact.”
McCullum featured in the squad for Heat during the inaugural edition of the T20 tournament, and played 3 matches for the team, during which he scored a total of 47 runs, finishing the season as the team’s 8th highest run-scorer. The team won 3
of the 7 matches they played, and finished 5th on the points table, unable to qualify for the semi-finals.
This time around, along with the omission of McCullum, changes include the signing of his teammate http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KAJ-Roach-c1758 as Heat's overseas players.
This year marks the second edition of the tournament, which is scheduled to kick off in December. Brisbane Heat’s first match is due to be played against the Hobart Hurricanes on December 9 at the Gabba.
Meanwhile McCullum, who has also been associated with the Indian Premier League (in which he plays for the Kolkata Knight Riders), finds himself caught up in international commitments.
The Kiwis currently put up a disappointing display against the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 during their ongoing tour of the Caribbean. The 5-match ODI series culminated in a 1-4 defeat and McCullum (who joined the team for the 4th and 5th ODIs of the
series, with his absence having been touted as a major reason for the team’s earlier defeats) was unable to contribute much, managing scores of 10 and 33.
His next assignment is the 2-match Test series against the Windies, following which the burly batsman will touring http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 in December this
year, making the prospect of McCullum’s participation in the Big Bash League impossible.
