http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754’s progress in the 50-overs format – Cricket News
Brendon McCullum, the New Zealand captain, is happy with his team’s recent progress in the 50-overs format and feels that the Black Caps have the capacity to win the on-going http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Champions Trophy 2013, if they can overcome their
flaws.
After being whitewashed in the two-match Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 by a narrow margin of one wicket in
their opening match of the mega event, with their second fixture against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 failing to yield a result due to rain.
The wicketkeeper batsman, who replaced http://www.senore.com/Cricket/LRPL-Taylor-c1849 as the Kiwi skipper last year, is happy that New Zealand have been doing well in ODIs recently but does not want his team to take things for granted. He urged the boys to be more
consistent.
“We've played good one day cricket in the last sort of while. Sometimes we've been a little bit off the ball as well. But I think as a whole, we're playing some decent cricket,” said the New Zealand captain. “Even today just a
little off the ball in parts; we were brilliant at other team times with the ball, and the team was brilliant with the ball. But other times we were just a little bit off.”
Taking into account the form of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KS-Williamson-c1813 and Ross Taylor, New Zealand look in good shape to qualify for the semi-finals of the Champions Trophy. However, McCullum wants his side to overcome the little flaws
they have been showing recently.
“If we're seriously think we can win this tournament, we need to make sure we tidy up those areas that haven't been quite right,” he added.
The Kiwis will play their last group match of the event against England on Sunday at Cardiff and it is likely that they will have to beat the hosts to go through to the next round. McCullum and company are presently at the top
of group A with three points after two matches and having a brilliant net run-rate of +1.048.
