Brendon McCullum still showing faith in his players – Cricket News Update
Brendon McCullum, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 captain, still has immense faith in his side and feels the management must not press the panic button after just one poor performance during the tour of England.
The Black Caps were controlling the game on the fourth day of the first Test of the two-match series against England at the Lord’s, needing just 239 runs to go ahead in the battle. However, the visitors’ batting
failed terribly to deliver the goods against a quality bowling line-up, getting bowled out for merely 68 runs in the last innings of the encounter.
The wicketkeeper/batsman is confident that the same players will perform well for the country in future.
"I totally believe in this group of players and just because of one poor batting performance it's not panic stations," said the New Zealand captain.
New Zealand’s left-arm spinner, Bruce Martin, has been ruled out of the second Test at Headingley due to a calf injury. As a result, Daniel Vettori, the former Kiwi skipper, has been called up to the squad and
is likely to be included in the playing-11 for the final fixture.
Neil Wagner, the New Zealand pacer, is excited to have Vettori back in the side and feels that his inclusion is going to strengthen the Test team.
"It's exciting seeing Dan around the changing room and training with us again," Wagner expressed. "He is just one of those guys you can always rely on."
On the other side of the coin, England’s young middle-order batsman, Joe Root, who is going to play a Test match at his home ground, Headingley, for the first time, is excited about the opportunity.
"I remember coming to a Test match here when I was quite young and Sachin Tendulkar was playing against England. Obviously then there's Michael Vaughan, who I grew up watching as a kid. So to get the opportunity
to play here in an international game is very exciting," said Root.
The right-handed batsman impressed one and all during the tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 last year and also registered a brilliant half-century in the opening Test of the series against New Zealand.
