Brendon Todd withdraws from the Valero Texas Open - Golf News
Brendon Todd has announced to withdraw from the Valero Texas Open, slated to be played at the Tournament Players Club San Antonio, from April 19 to 22, 2012.
Todd missed the cut in the last four tournaments and did not succeed in breaking the par in each of the rounds that he played.
Therefore, he decided to take a week off in order to tune up his game while spending some time with his family.
He said that he has been struggling to make a good mark since the start of the 2012 season. He played 12 events in total and missed the cut seven times. This speaks of his poor form in the current golf season.
Moreover, his best finish of the season came in the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, where he tied for the ninth position.
According to Todd, he wanted to be a part of the field of the Texas Open. At the same time, he did not want to miss another cut and ruin his record on the tour.
Golf analysts have also given respect to his decision, as it will serve in his best interests. He should critically analyse the mistakes he made in the recent tournaments and make some amendments accordingly.
It is observed that he has been struggling with his swing technique that always hinders in getting the driving accuracy.
According to the PGA Tour stats, he has a driving accuracy percentage of 61.35 per cent and Greens in Regulation Percentage 60.54 per cent.
While playing the tournaments on the PGA Tour, these percentages cannot earn a good finish for him anyway.
Meanwhile, Andre Stolz, who was supposed to take Todd’s place in the event, also withdrew as an alternate because of his personal engagements.
Brendan Steele, who earned a spectacular victory at the AT&T Oaks Course, last year, has returned to the field in order to defend his title.
Like Todd, Steele is also facing a bad patch in his career, as he missed the cut five times this year among the 10 PGA Tour events that he played.
Therefore, he needs to focus completely on his performance and play a natural game to outclass his opponents as he did last year.
