Brennan Boesch’s five RBIs helps Detroit Tigers defeat Texas Rangers 13-7 – MLB Update
Detroit Tigers’ right-fielder, Brennan Boesch had a remarkable day as he went 5-for-6 and scored three runs including five RBIs and two homers in the Tigers’ 13-7 win against the Texas Rangers at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas on June 6.
The Tigers stepped on the gas in the first inning and exploded three runs. Boesch struck a one-run homer (415 feet) towards right-field while Austin Jackson and Don Kelly both singled to get a 3-0 lead. Second inning passed with no run from both sides.
At the top of third inning, the Tigers blasted four runs while the Rangers also opened their scoring account by adding two run at the bottom of the first. Boesch hit his second homer (419 feet) of the game, Andy Dirks homered (358 feet) towards right-field,
Alex Avila hit a home run (424 feet) to centre-field and Miguel Cabrera scored the last run to complete a four-run campaign for the Tigers.
On the other side, Ian Kinsler tripled to deep left and Endy Chavez scored a single run. The second run for the Rangers were taken by Kinsler on the grounder of Elvis Andrus. The score-card moved to 7-2 at the end of third inning.
Kelly and Boesch both contributed two runs in the fourth inning to extend the Tigers’ lead. Adrian Beltre and Yorvit Torrealba singled off the centre field position while Nelson Cruz homered (415 feet) to centre field. The score-card advanced to 9-5 after
the fourth inning.
The pitchers raised the potential of their teams by giving no run to any batter. Max Scherzer was little bit expensive as he threw five innings with an ERA of 4.68 and allowed five runs on eight hits with five earned runs. He struck-out four batters and
gave one walk on 99 pitches.
Sixth and seventh inning went in favour of the Tigers as they added two runs to get an 11-5 lead after seventh. The Rangers scored two runs in the eighth inning to cut their deficit 11-7 when Cruz homered (447 feet) to left centre-field and Beltre posted
one run.
In the last inning, the Tigers went ahead 13-7 when Danny Worth doubled to deep right-centre while Ryan Raburn and Jackson posted last two runs to end the game.
