Brennan Boesch’s time in Detroit could be over – MLB Detroit Tigers News
Detroit Tigers’ right fielder Brennan Boesch could be traded next week, reports freep.com. Boesch had a poor time on the plate last season as he managed to hit just .240 with 12 home-runs and 54 RBI’s in 132 games. The 27-year-old first lost hold on a starting
job and after the Tigers signed former Los Angeles Angels’ outfielder Torii Hunter, he lost any chance of keeping his place on the Tigers’ big league roster.
It seems his time in Detroit is over. Jon Paul Morosi of foxsports.com said several Major League Baseball teams have shown interest in acquiring Boesch’s services for the next season. There are chances the Tigers could trade him during the winter meetings,
which will take place between Monday and Thursday next week.
"I'm just hoping that this was just one of those blur years," manager Jim Leyland said of Boesch earlier this month."I don't really have an answer for you. I don't really know what happened. I know that he got upset when I said in the paper he needs to relax.
He didn't like that too much."
Boesch has a decent .259 with .729 OPS and 42 home-runs. He gave sensational results in 2011, helping the Tigers win the American League Central Division title. However, the outfielder was unable to live up to the expectations in 2012 that cost him his place
on the big league roster.
Tigers will now be resting their hopes on their newly signed right fielder Hunter, who produced some magical performances for the Angels last season.
He hit .313 with 16 home-runs and 92 RBI’s. According to sources, Hunter also desperately wanted to be a part of the Tigers. He has achieved everything in his career except for a World Series title. The Tigers made it to the World Series finals last year,
losing to the San Francisco Giants 4-0.
However, they will open the next season as the favourites to win the title. With the Tigers, Hunter will have an excellent chance to win the prestigious ring. Boesch, on the other hand, will be looking to turn things around with consistent performances in
the next season.
