Brent Morel’s homer helps Chicago White Sox defeat Baltimore Orioles 4-3 - MLB Update

Chicago White Sox third baseman, Brent Morel had a tremendous day with the bat as he went 2-for-4 with an average of .259 and hit a solo homer including two RBIs in the White Sox 4-3 victory against the Baltimore Orioles at Oriole Park, Baltimore on August
9.
The batters were score-less in the first inning as pitchers tossed up the ball at their feet and did not give away any runs. White Sox batters seemed immobilised as at left-field, Juan Pierre flied out and Paul Konerko lined out. Similarly, Orioles also
struggled with the bat as at second base, J.J. Hardy grounded out and at short-stop position, Adam Jones grounded out.
During second inning, White Sox scored two runs to take a 2-0 lead. Carlos Quentin hit a one-run homer towards left-centre while Brent Lillibridge posted a single run on drive of Morel to left-centre. Gordon Beckham moved towards second base to complete
second inning. The White Sox took their lead 3-0 at the top of third inning as A.J. Pierzynski doubled off deep right-field and Alexei Ramirez added one run.
Morel struck a one-run homer towards left-field to give White Sox a 4-0 lead in fourth inning. On the other side, the Orioles stepped on the gas to smash three runs and reduced their lead 4-3. Matt Wieters contributed a single run when Hardy hit a grounder
into fielder’s choice to second base while Robert Andino got out at second base.
Felix Pie scored a second run for Orioles when Nick Markakis singled off right-centre and Hardy moved to third base. The third run for Orioles was taken by Hardy when Jones was saved to reach at first base on the error of White Sox short-stop Ramirez. Markakis
occupied second base to end the fifth inning.
Morel said, “We've kind of just been waiting for this all year, really. We have a lot of potential. It's kind of been a disappointing year, but knowing that we have a little time left to make a push, hopefully we can keep playing well.”
In last four innings, the pitchers were dominant through their tremendous throws. White Sox starter, Gavin Floyd pitched just over six innings and allowed seven hits, three runs, three earned runs and one walk with an ERA of 4.53. He struck-out four batters
on his 87 pitches.
With this impressive victory, the White Sox took a 2-0 lead in the four-game series.
