Brett Favre sits out practice but expects to play Sunday
A few days of rest seemed to do Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre some good.
After sitting out for many of the practices leading up to the Vikings 27-24 overtime win over the Arizona Cardinals, Favre came out and led his team to a much needed victory and recorded a career-high 446 passing yards.
Once again, Favre has sat out practice this week as the team prepares to take on the Chicago Bears in an important NFC North Division match-up on Sunday, 14 November, and the Vikings are hoping it will help him deliver a result similar to his performance
against the Cardinals.
Favre was questionable leading up to the game against Arizona because of two small fractures in his foot, which led many to believe his consecutive game streak could be in jeopardy. Although the fractures are still there, Favre is insisting the injury isn't
as bad as it maybe could have been and that he'll be ready to play on Sunday.
"It's OK. Of course, after a game it always feels worse. It's still swollen, but at least I'm able to function enough on it that Monday and Tuesday and maybe Wednesday I try to stay off of it as much as possible," Favre told reporters recently.
"Get it back to where it feels tolerable. I'm surprised with a broken foot that it doesn't feel as bad as it probably should."
Vikings head coach Brad Childress had Favre largely to thank for helping him keep his job, as many people had been calling for his head after leading his team out to a dismal 2-5 start to the season before last week's win.
"I just thought he was very alive with his arm and what he was doing with the football last week, how he was stroking it around and really banging the receivers with the football," Childress said about Favre to reporters.
