Brett Favre takes one in the chin
After constant speculation that Brett Favre's consecutive games played streak might finally come to end, the 41-year-old once again suited up for the Minnesota Vikings, only to leave the game midway through the fourth quarter after getting hit by New England
Patriots defensive tackle Myron Pryor.
The hit opened up Favre's chin.
Favre has begun to resemble the Six Million Dollar Man after suffering two fractures in his foot, tendonitis in his right elbow, and now with eight stitches to the chin, many are wondering just how much more he can endure.
Still, Favre refuses to quit. When asked about whether or not he expected to start at quarterback when the Vikings host the Arizona Cardinals on 7 November, Favre responded by saying, "Nobody knows my body like me. There were plenty of times I should've
been knocked out and wasn't. I should be ready to play next week."
After the hit by Pryor, Favre was carted off the field and taken to the locker room to be looked at. He was replaced by Tavaris Jackson who immediately helped the Vikings get back in the game.
"Taking a seat at the end of the game is new for me," Favre said. "Going into the tunnel on the cart, (that's what) I thought to myself for a few brief seconds."
About making his 292nd consecutive career start, Favre said, "My prayers were answered. I wanted a chance to play. Not play to just play, one play to get a start. To play well enough to give us a chance to win."
Seeing Favre get the start wasn't so surprising, despite all the drama that had surrounded the lead up to the game. But seeing Favre go down, and immediately springing back to his feet after the hit, and then getting carted off the field, did take a few
people by surprise.
"I didn't think it was too bad," Vikings running back Adrian Peterson said, "...until I saw him unbuckle his chinstraps and it was leaking pretty good."
