Brett Favre throws 500th TD pass
As if Brett Favre hasn't already won enough awards, or set enough records, the 41-year-old added another milestone to his impressive resume last night when he threw his 500th touchdown pass in the Vikings 29-20 loss to the New York Jets.
Favre reached the milestone with a huge 37-yard touchdown pass to the newly-acquired wide receiver Randy Moss. The score was a momentum swinger as it breathed new life into a Vikings team that had struggled in the first half. It was also the first touchdown
pass Favre has thrown to his new number one target.
"When I threw that touchdown to Randy Moss," Favre said about reaching the milestone, "I had been thinking about that for eight to 10 years."
Favre is now the only quarterback in NFL history to reach the 500 touchdown pass plateau and, although he was jubilant about the record, he was ultimately disappointed by the result of the game which overshadowed it.
"Disappointing, I suppose," Favre said. "I was expecting we were going to win this football game. It was a great football game, and I wish we would have won it."
Favre had been in the headlines recently for all the wrong reasons after he had been accused of sexual harassing a reporter while he was with his former team, the New York Jets. Vikings receiver Percy Harvin pointed out that the distraction couldn't keep
Favre from putting in the time to prepare for the game and playing 100 percent.
"I don't think anyone wanted to win this game more than him...He was well prepared, so I don't think any of that outside stuff had anything to do with how he played."
The list of milestones and records Favre has pinned his name may seem endless, but the future hall of famer has had a difficult start to the season, with the Vikings standing at 1-3.
