Brett Favre: trade?

Question

So Brett wants to play for the Vikings, but the Packers don't want to trade him to the Vikings.

Could you have 2 consecutive trades for Favre? Like the Packers trade Favre to the Bucs, and then the Bucs trade Favre to the Vikings? Does the NFL allow that?

Yes, it is possible.

But can easily be prevented by the Packers.  They can put in a trade clause that states that Tampa can not trade Favre to the Bears, Vikings, Lions...etc.  

Ok, so then they trade him to Baltimore, who then trade him to the Vikings....  Possible, maybe, but not plausable.  

Deals with someone like Brett could not be made that quickly.  Well, I guess they could, but not likely.

I guess the Packers could make Brett agree to never accept a deal that would put him back in the NFC north.  This would put an end to this theory.  But I don't know the legalities involved and whether or not the Packers could make him agree to it.

I read in the news this morning that Brett is talking to the Bucs and the NY Jets.

As a longtime Jets fan....he would be a much needed boost for my lousy team and he would still be wearing a green uniform! :P

Once he is property of the Bucs I believe they can do with him whatever they want.  Don't quote me on that, but I don't see what could stop them to do that.  If I were the Vikings I would be talking to Tampa already seeing if they'd want to deal Favre to them.  Tampa already has a fairly competent QB in Jeff Garcia.  They can get much more by trading for Favre and trying to milk Minnesota for something big in return.

Favre himself said he would stay retired before going to the Jets. Cant say that I blame him.

If the Bucs get him they will keep him.  Yes, you can have multi-team trades, but in this case Tampa Bay would not trade him.

I'm not sure what the NFL rules say, but I highly doubt that it could happen or would happen.
