Brett Fraser earns Men’s 100m butterfly gold – USA Swimming Sectionals, Fort Lauderdale
Brett M Fraser of Gator Swim Club earned gold medal of the Men’s 100m butterfly on day two of the 2012 USA Swimming Sectionals in Fort Lauderdale on Friday, July 13.
The 22-year-old Fraser demonstrated his stupendous efforts in the 100m discipline as he proved his mettle for gold medal of the discipline.
With his continued efforts, Fraser gained a two-body length lead over his strongest challenger, Youse Alaskari of Davie Nadadores in the first half. He displayed his nerve-wrecking form in the final lap by clocking an effort of 53.55 seconds.
The champion was chased by Alaskari, who stayed 2.15 seconds slower from him over the finishing blockade and ended second in the discipline by producing a time of 55.70 seconds.
Second position holder was chased by Garland Sullivan of Westminster Academy, who stayed 0.36 seconds apart and occupied bronze medal of the discipline by posting a time of 56.06 seconds.
Bronze medallist was trailed by Nick C Carter of Westminster Academy, who was just one stroke away from finishing third in the event. Carter stayed only 0.23 seconds slower from his former finisher and tapped the wall with the timing of 56.29 seconds for fourth position.
Fifth spot of the event was obtained by Luke C Torres of South Florida Aquatics, who remained just 0.13 seconds behind and made his way to the wall by posting a time of 56.42 seconds.
The 18-year-old Torres was chased by Eric M Ress of Santa Clara Swim, who was just 0.02 seconds apart and occupied sixth position of the discipline with an effort of 56.44 seconds.
Seventh position of the discipline was secured by Radhames Kalaf of Naco-ZZ, who suffered a deficit of almost half body length from his former finisher and posted a time of 57.16 seconds.
Kalaf was trailed by Carranz Ramirez of Una Wasc-FG, who stayed just an inch slower from overpowering his foregoing finisher and clocked an effort of 57.17 seconds for eighth position.
Fraser was delighted with his victory in the event and articulated that he would train hard to achieve the same at superior levels of sport.
