http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brett-Holman-c8047, the 28-year-old Australian forward, has been given assurances over his future with English Premier League side Aston Villa under the new management of Paul Lambert.
It was under former manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 McLeish that Holman signed with the Villans, agreeing to a pre-contract in March. However, when he joined up with the side there was another manager in charge, with McLeish having been sacked at the end of the season.
The former Birmingham City manager was sacked following an extremely disappointing season which saw Aston Villa barely avoid relegation. It was after McLeish was sacked that the management at Villa Park appointed former Norwich City boss Paul Lambert.
The change in manager does not bother Holman though, the second striker revealed he was unaffected by the change. He revealed he had been in touch with Lambert and had been given reassurances by him about future at Aston Villa.
Holman felt all the players at Aston Villa were in the same boat, with none of them having previously played under Lambert. He was eager to prove himself to the new manager and earn a place in the starting line-up under him.
Holman said while speaking to reporters:
“I signed for one manager and I'm now playing for another, but it hasn't really affected me at all. I've spoken to the new manager and he's told me to give it everything. He's reassured me.
Nobody has played for him, so we all start with a clean slate. I have got to show him what I can produce and make it hard for him. Hopefully I will play my way into the first team.”
Regarding his conversation with Lambert, Holman revealed the new Aston Villa manager had told him to work hard at his new club. He was aware that he had to do his best to earn a place in the squad at the English Premier League side.
He continued:
“http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paul-c29347 said, 'You're here, give it everything'. So, it was good to have a word with the new manager. He said I was part of his plans but that I have to show myself, otherwise he's not going to pick me.”
