Aston Villa’s new signing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brett-Holman-c8047 is ready to contest for a place in manager Paul Lambert’s first choice eleven as the new season approaches.
The Australian midfielder has promised to ‘give it everything’ against Villa’s last pre-season against German side Werder Bremen this evening. The player seeks to impress manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paul-c29347 Lambert as he looks to secure a spot in the team that will be put out
against Villa’s Premier League opener against West Ham United next week.
Holman is determined to stand out in today’s pre-season friendly before the competitive campaign begins at Upton Park next Saturday. The Australian international has been very impressive in his Villa career so far with goals scored against Burton Albion
and Peterborough United in the pre-season.
He admits that the friendly against Werder Bremen will be the toughest game of pre-season and could be the last chance for most of Villa’s players to make their way into Lambert’s starting eleven.
The team flew out to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 yesterday and will face Bremen in a game that kicks off at 5 p.m. UK time. Speaking to the press, Holman said:
“I don’t know if it’s the main dress rehearsal for us. Obviously it’s the last friendly game for us. I think the manager will probably still want to try things out, which formations he actually wants to play against West Ham.”
“Whether he’s summing and adding or doubting about which players are going to play there or there or wherever, that’s obviously up to him.”
“It’s only us as players that can do that, there’s no other way. As long as I’m performing and giving it everything and pushing for the starting XI spot then that’s all I can do.”
Aston Villa will be in need of all the help they can get in midfield, as the club was dealt a blow regarding winger Mark Albrighton, who is sidelined for two months of the Premier League season with a broken metatarsal bone.
The 22-year old received the injury during pre-season training and is expected to be out till October. Aston Villa have already lost striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gabriel-Agbonlahor-c14288 to a knee injury and defender Ryan Dunne is also out of action on account of a surgery on his
groin. Both players will miss the opening month of the new competitive season.
