http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746’s strike bowler, Brett Lee, has cited current fielding coach, Steve Rixon, as the perfect choice to be appointed as the head coach of the team on a long-term basis.
Cricket Australia is presently hunting for a new coach after Tim Nielsen’s termination following the Argus review report. There are many names flying in the air for the hot seat but cricket’s governing body in the country is yet to reach any decision.
Referring to Nixon’s brilliant work for the national team, Lee said that a global search for the mentor is not required, as Nixon – the present fielding coach – can become Nielsen’s successor.
"They can search the world, and I think it's important they do look at the options, but there's something in our backyard that I think we should use. You look back at his record - everything he's touched has turned to gold. If I could have it my way, I'd
definitely have him as head coach," Lee was quoted as saying in the 'Sydney Morning Herald'.
Nixon has a handsome experience of coaching international and domestic sides all over the world. The 57-year-old mentored http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754, where he helped the Black Caps notch the No. 3 position
on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Test and ODI rankings.
He has also worked as an assistant coach of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) - the side that clinched the Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy on a couple of occasions.
Along with supporting Nixon for the crucial position, Lee endorsed the decision to bring pace sensation, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Iftikhar-Ali-Khan-Pataudi-Nawab-of-c64075 Cummins, into the Test arena. The speed merchant described that the 18-year-old is ready to shine in the longest version of the game despite holding
an experience of just three first class matches.
"To have the cricket brain he has at the age of 18, I haven't seen that from a lot of the youngsters. I'm expecting great things from him, and if he's bowling that pace why not get him into the Test side now?," added the 34-year-old speed star who missed
the ongoing ODI series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 due to fitness problems.
