Brett Lee not a fan of dual balls in ODIs– Cricket News update
The legendary Australian fast bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brett-Lee-c48419 has expressed his unhappiness over the dual ball rule in ODIs as opposed to the earlier rule of mandatory ball change after 34 overs. The Kangaroo pacer believes that the new ruling has increased the disadvantage
for bowlers when pitches are increasingly becoming batsmen friendly around the world.
"I'm not a massive fan of it to tell you the truth," Lee said while referring to the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 ruling held out in October, 2011 introducing dual ball usage in the ODIs. It reduces the chances of fast bowlers making use of one of their most potent weapons, the
reverse swing.
"Even when the 34-over mandatory ball-change came in, to me it has taken a lot of the weapons out of the game that a fast bowler uses and that's bowling at the death in the late overs when the ball's not turning around [with reverse swing],” opined the Aussie
attack bowler.
“Yes, there will be times when you can get the ball to reverse swing less than 25 overs old, but it certainly has taken a key weapon out of the game.” he said, explaining the scant benefits that the new rule provides to bowlers.
Today when most of wickets around the world are slow, the pitches and the new rules provide batsmen inherent advantages over the bowlers during crucial stages of a match like the death overs.
Showing acquiescence with new rules of the game, the 35-year-old Kangaroo bowler said, "That to me is not enjoyable, but you've just got to roll with what you've got."
One of the most successful fast bowlers Australia has ever produced, Lee, has played 212 ODIs by taking 369 wickets at an average of 23.06. Off late, he has been instrumental in adding depth to the Aussie batting with his ability to play important knocks
late in the innings.
After suffering a toe injury recently during the twenty20 match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746.
Lee looks forward to play a winning role in the Caribbean during the ODI series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760.
