Brett Lee to return against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758
Australian speedster Brett Lee has said that he is gunning for a spot in the Australian side for their series against Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka will play http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 in a series of a T20I and three ODIs.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lee-c72382 has been in and out of the Australian team due to injuries. Things came to such a situation that Lee had to announce his retirement from the Test match arena to be able to focus his attention on ODIs
and T20Is only.
“I will try and play a couple of one-dayers for the (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823) Blues over the next couple of weeks and then look to try and play against Sri Lanka towards the end of this month,” said Lee.
During the Ashes of 2009 Lee seemed to be recovering from his injuries but he was not picked for any of the five Test matches that the Aussies played against England. Later, he did play in the Champions
League T20 and led his side the New South Wales Blues to a win before breaking down in the series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750. He tried to make a comeback after that but has been laid low by injuries ever since.
Lee, however, said that he will not be looking at playing in the five-day version of the game. He did say that while he enjoyed playing in Test match cricket, the time had come for him to listen to his body
and concentrate on the shorter formats of the game.
Lee’s injury problems have included a side strain, elbow surgery, a broken thumb and a forearm injury. In 2008, he also underwent a divorce that meant that he was away from the game trying to sort out his
personal life.
Lee has always maintained that despite all the injuries, he would not look at cutting down on his speed which has been clocked at more than 150 km/hr on a regular basis. When asked whether the injuries would
push him into sacrificing pace for line, length and longevity, Lee said, “Definitely not, the way that I've always bowled and the way that I approach my cricket is that I've always gone flat out.”
