Brett Lee wants Australia World Cup place
Brett Lee has revealed that he is going all out to secure a place in the Australia World Cup squad for this February.
Lee has said he wants nothing more than to play for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 again after a string of injuries forced him into Test match retirement. The seamer is well known for being one of the fastest bowlers in the
history of the game.
"That's definitely what I'm aiming for, that's the reason I'm training so hard.
I've got a few weeks off, which is not ideal preparation.
It's disappointing but it's the way it goes. They [Australian selectors] told me they wanted me to play some more cricket. Unfortunately I don't have any more cricket to play," said http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lee-c72382.
Lee still has more than enough quality to still be effective in the limited overs format of the game. However, if he does make it back into the 20 or 50 over sides then there will be serious questions
over how long he can stay there.
A dangerous player
Lee is a dangerous player because he doesn't have to be in full rhythm to trouble most batsmen. He can be bowling at 70 or 80 per cent and will still send the ball down at around 90 miles per hour.
He's played a lot of international cricket during his career and already 186 one-day internationals to his name. He's taken a total of 324 wickets and this shows he knows how to get important players
out.
The problem Lee faces is that he's now almost 34-years-old. This means his body will take longer to recover from small injuries such as impact injuries and strains. This will ultimately keep him
out of the team.
"I would have loved to have been playing [for Australia this winter], I'm not, so
it's back to the drawing board and keep trying to do well whenever I get the opportunity," he added.
Betting advice
There is a slim chance Lee will make the Australian World Cup squad. However, Australia has never been a team that likes going backwards and Ricky Ponting's side has clearly been going through a transitional
phase.
