Brett Tomko gets another chance at glory as Texas Rangers call him up – MLB Update
Veteran pitcher Brett Tomko has been called up by the Texas Rangers for inclusion into the squad. The pitcher has been struggling to make it to the final team and now that pursuit for recognition is over.
Though not owning up to the opportunity, the pitcher is the best option the club has in the pack. The ball thrower was able to talk about his recent upgrade to a Major League Baseball player and he was nothing less than emotional. He told the press that
he will be moved when he will get to hear the national anthem again and pitch off the mound.
The ace last threw the ball in the Major Leagues with the Oakland Athletics in 2009. The Rangers now want the 38-year-old to add value to an already battered bull-pen. While no roles are sorted out permanently, this provides the veteran pitcher to capitalise
on the situation. For the maestro, this presents a good case for nudging off nerve problems in his right forearm.
Tomko played for Triple A Round Rock before he was given a call. He told the reporters that he had an emotional conversation with his wife when he learned of his promotion.
"I wanted to be here more than I wanted to be in the big leagues in the first place," Tomko said.
The pitcher will be heading to the main team with Taylor Teagarden, who will be coming in to support the catcher’s role with the club. Tomko was 0-2 with Round Rock, while his earned run average was 6.35.
"The numbers aren't the best, but I feel like I've been throwing the ball well," Tomko said. "I feel like my stuff is good."
Though no certain role is allocated to the experienced pitcher, he is ready for whatever duties the team can allot him.
"I'm too far into my career to worry about what role I have," Tomko said. "I'll do whatever they need me to do."
The ball thrower has a 100-102mph throwing arm that could come in real handy if command is kept on the top. Is this his shining moment? Only time will tell.
