Brevis cichlid (shelldwellers)

I have 3 brevis one male and two female. He has paired with one female. Will a male kill the 2nd female in the tank? They are now in my 60g but thinking of putting thenm back in their 10 gallon.

  1. I doubt it very much.  There are not many mating pairs only with Africans.  By far most all Africans are harem types which actually do better with numerous females.  I have NOT kept shell dwellers before, but I honestly can't see how having two females is going to be an issue.  In fact, on the video I saw about shell dwellers, shell dwellers build and collect a nest of shells to attract as many females as they can.  So actually no, this is a very good thing for you.  He, unless he's some kind of mutant shouldn't kill the other.  If you want me link you to the video's of Lake Tangyanika, let me know.
