Question:

Brewing coffee directly into the cup.?

I brewed coffee today. Its a paper filter coffee maker. I put my cup under the spout and brewed directly into my cup. When it was full, I swapped the pot under to get the rest of the coffee.

Is the cup I got less strong or more strong than the stuff in the pot?

Is this impolite?

  1. I don't think it's impolite, as long as it's your coffeepot.  I also think the strongest coffee comes in the middle of the brew cycle.  Weak at the beginning, weak at the end, strong in the middle.

    ...how did it taste?

  2. Yes, that was uncouth, as you got most of the pots flavor. When the coffee grounds get wet they begin releasing their flavor and as the water continues through the grounds the flavors are weaker.

So what you did was leave the weaker coffee to the next cups out of the finished pot.

They have streets named after guys like you....

  3. I would say it does not make and difference other than that you got it first in the cup meaning you had stronger grounds at the time.
