The 24-year-old fired three aces and 69 percent of the first serves in the opener, sealing 13 of the 18 points on them. The Astana, Kazakhstan resident was unable to save the only break point he faced but succeeded in converting
the two he received.

After the match, he said, "Right now, I'm thinking about how I'm going to recover and play tomorrow. It hasn't quite sunk in yet, but when I get back to the hotel room, I'm sure there will be a lot of people calling me. I knew
I was in the quarters and had a good win last night. I felt like if I kept on playing my game, I'd have a chance to win."
Baker will lock horns with former world number three, Nikolay Davydenko, in the semis.
