Brian Harman set to make his presence felt in the world of golf
Brain Harman is best known for his unusual playing style and willingness to put his best foot forward on the course. Despite his amazing skills and resilience, he has been under scrutiny from observers about a number of things.
However, the most important factor that sometimes overshadows the young star' efforts has been his physique—or more precisely his height. Being only five feet seven inches, Brian Harman confidently dispels concerns about his small stature and he has other
things to count on. For instance, he received his PGA Tour card after qualifying Q-school last season. Before proving his worth in the PGA qualifying round, he spent most of the time on mini-tours.
Harman grabbed attention due to his abilities in college golf. Right from the start, he performed amazingly well and soon became an active player of the University of Georgia. Being part of the University’s golf team, he proved his mettle and helped his
team win many events. In junior golf, Harman remained outstanding, as he managed to perform well in different events.
One of the most important victories he grabbed was US Junior Amateur in 2003. The young Georgian gradually boosted his skills and forged ahead with consistency and hard work. Being on top in junior golf is not the only factor motivating Harman, amateur golf
also saw the rising star prove his skills. Players Amateur is the event in which he let his fans see his best expertise. The event is especially designed for amateur golfers. In the 2005 event, Harman beat all his rivals and claimed the Cup.
Keeping in mind his amazing performance in the past events, Brian Harman likes to put his trust in his game. Sharing his thoughts about the issues that have kept the young American in the spotlight, Harman said he belongs to a family that does not glorify
golf, as he is the only member who loves golf.
"When I was 3 years old, my dad moved our family to a house on the third hole of the Southbridge Golf Club in Savannah, Ga. Once I got done with baseball when I was 11, I started playing golf. I would ride my bike to the course after school and hit a couple
of bags of balls," Harman revealed about his golf enthusiasm in an interview last year.
This is how the rising star started his journey toward becoming one of the most influential golfers. Though he may not attain what he desires, as there are plenty of competent players out there, he can has the capability to give a tough time to his rivals.
But he said there have been many things that gave him confidence as a rising player. He recounted how he received a letter from one of the leading professional players, Phil Mickelson after winning the Thunderbird junior event.
Another thing Harman often mentions is playing against Rickie Folwer. “Rickie Fowler and I played against each other in the match play portion of the 2009 NCAA Championships. I birdied the last three holes to beat him 1 up. I have known
Rickie for a long time and he's a good buddy of mine.”
The last season witnessed Harman spending his time on the PGA Tour without recording a single victory. Yet, he believes that it was a great experience for him to plat against some of the best players in the world. He acknowledged that he gained a lot while
playing on the Tour events. He also conceded that he had many lapses in his game and it was the PGA Tour that helped him mend his ways.
