Brian Lara, the former West Indies captain, is overjoyed at being included in the International Cricket Council’s (ICC’s) Hall of Fame and feels honoured to be listed amongst some of the game’s greats like Sir Garfield Sobers and Sir Vivian Richards.

The stylish left-hander went on to become one of the greatest batsmen of history and ruled the cricketing world for the next 17 years, although West Indies struggled to deliver the goods consistently as a team.
Earlier this month, the former captain was included in the ICC’s Hall of Fame, which was a moment of pride for Lara, who is over the moon to have been given such an honour by the sport’s governing body.
"I think it's a very humbling experience for me. To be named alongside some of the great cricketers not just from the West Indies but from all around the world like Sir Garfield Sobers, the Three Ws, Sir Vivian Richards is a very special feeling," said Lara.
In the 131 Tests and 299 One Day Internationals (ODIs) he has played for West Indies, Lara has scored more than 22 thousand runs at the global arena, with the help of 53 centuries.
The left-hander, with a world-record Test innings of 400 not out against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, remains the only player in the Test history to have reached the landmark. With a number of other extra-ordinary performances as well, the destructive batsman is surely among
the greatest players produced by the Caribbean giants.
The legendary batsman also served West Indies as captain in 1990s and 2000s, winning the ICC Champions Trophy 2004 in England, which is one of Lara’s greatest sporting memories.
