Brian Lara slams Caribbean cricket Administration for wasting talent – Cricket News Update
The former West Indian skipper and legendary batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brian-Charles-Lara-c48471, has lambasted his national cricket managers for squandering the rich cricketing talent of the Caribbean with lack of proper planning.
Lara, who ruled over the empire of cricket for almost one and a half decade, claims that there lies immense young talent in the region, but all is vain as the game's governing bodies have no strategy to make the right use of it.
The legend asserts that West Indies produced a number of matchless cricketers in the past, and there exist many more who can retake the team to the top of the world rankings, provided they get proper opportunities and facilities.
Talking to the media yesterday, Lara said, “As I said, on any given day, I think we've got the best talented cricketers in the world. It's always been the case over the years, since even before my days ... cricket has gone a long way now. Talent is only
a very small part compared to 20, 30 years ago”
In a ironical tone, the ex-captain churned out that the Caribbean authorities spoil talented players rather than perking them up.
He told, “Now (with) technology, there is a lot of things coming into play and I say it all the time, we in the West Indies take very good talent and make it average and people (in places) like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 take average talent and make
it very, very good, and that is where the problem lies.”
Lara’s comments have come in the backdrop of the Windies’ defeat in the 1st Test match against India. Despite being an ace cricketing nation, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 have been underdogs since the past few years due to the managerial loopholes.
Lara wants all the hurdles removed, so that the Caribbean Kings regain their lost pride and position in world rankings.
The former rock-star represented his nation in 131 Test and 299 ODI matches from 1990 to 2006, scoring 11953 and 10405 runs respectively in the two formats.
