Brian Locke shares the third position at the Yeangder ADT after day three
Brian Locke carded a two-under par 70 to share the third spot on the leaderboard, entering the final round of the Yeangder ADT. The event is being played at the National Garden Country Club.
The tournament is sanctioned by the Asian Development Tour, and is the last tournament on the roster this season.
Locke, who earned his maiden victory on the tour a fortnight ago, carded two birdies against a lone bogey to settle eight strokes behind the leader and playing partner Lu Chien-Soon.
Talking to the Asian Development Tour’s official website, he said that it was a boring round, as he failed to avail a number of birdie opportunities that he had created.
According to the American, he will have to improve his putting technique, in a bid to mount a challenge against Chien-Soon.
“It is a putting game on this golf course. You need to get your putter hot if you want to mount a challenge. I’m playing solidly so I’m happy with that. Obviously Lu is playing great so we all have to play catch-up,” said Locke.
The Asian Development Tour Order of Merit leader Jay Bayron, in the meantime, carded a six-under par 66 to take the seventh place on the leaderboard.
He is now in prime position to earn his berth in the 2013 Asian Tour season. The top-three players in the Order of Merit, at the end of the week, will receive invitations to play on the bigger stage in 2013.
Hsieh Chi-Hsien, who currently ranks fourth in the list, needs a strong finish on Sunday, if he has to make it into the top three in the standings.
Entering the final round, he shares the 22nd position, while the second ranked Hsu Mong-Nan is already one stroke ahead of him. Chi-Hsien is about US$4,000 behind Hsu in the money list.
“It is going to be exciting and I look forward to it. There’s still a chance for me. I know this course well and I’ve won here before. I’m targeting a seven-under, which I hope will pull me through,” said the 22-year-old Chi-Hsien, who won on this venue
in August.
