Brian McCann’s four RBIs help Atlanta Braves rout Chicago Cubs 8-3 - MLB Update

Atlanta Braves’ catcher, Brian McCann had a remarkable day with the bat as he hit four RBIs including two homers and went 2-for-4 with an average of .292 in the Braves’ 8-3 victory over the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field, Chicago on August 25.
Braves got off to a quick start as their batters smashed three runs during first inning to take a convincing lead while the Cubs were able to score just one run at the bottom of first inning to reduce their lead 3-1. McCann struck a three-run homer (425
feet) towards right-centre while Michael Bourn and Martin Prado both posted two consecutive runs for Braves.
On the other side, Darwin Barney was grounded out to short-stop position but Starlin Castro was able to add up one run for the Cubs. At the bottom of second inning, Cubs tied the game 3-3 by taking two runs. Marlon Byrd hit a solo homer (381 feet) to left-field
and Tyler Colvin scored a leading run when Geovany Soto was grounded out to pitcher.
In the third inning, Braves’ batters posted two runs to their individual score-card and got a 5-3 lead. Dan Uggla walked, Bourn completed a single run, Prado moved to third base and McCann occupied second base. Prado added the second or leading run when
Freddie Freeman drove a single-run shot towards right-field and Uggla advanced to second base to end the third inning.
During the fourth inning, the batters were sloppy in front of tricky pitches and got out. Braves took a 6-3 lead in the fifth inning when Jason Heyward hit a sacrifice fly to left-field and Uggla scored one run. In the sixth inning, the pitchers again controlled
runs by tossing in a straight line.
Braves’ starter, Brandon Beachy pitched beautifully as he threw six innings and gifted just three runs, six hits and one home-run with an ERA of 3.31. He struck-out eight batters and permitted two earned runs on his 97 pitches. During seventh inning, Braves
got a 7-3 lead when McCann hit his second homer (372 feet) of the game towards left-field.
Eighth inning was also in favour of the Braves as they took an 8-3 lead. Jose Constanza scored a single run when Bourn singled off left-field. However, Braves sealed the four-game series 3-1 after defeating the Cubs comfortably.
