After suffering three successive defeats in the Premier League, the Royals boss has insisted that his side will try their utmost to win their upcoming game against Southampton.
Reading head coach, Brian McDermott, has insisted that his side is keen to claim a victory after suffering defeats in all of their last three Premier League games.
The Royals suffered a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Wigan Athletic on November 24, before a 1-0 loss against Aston Villa on November 27. Manchester United then secured a 4-3 win over the Royals on December 1, and the 51-year-old trainer has insisted that his
side are now keen to claim a victory.
“The players, the manager, the staff, the fans and my mum would take any type of win”, McDermott was quoted as saying to the media.
In spite of a 4-3 defeat against the Red Devils, the English mentor has expressed his satisfaction over his side’s performances in recent weeks, but has admitted that the fans want results.
“The Man Utd match was great for our fans and we've had some fantastic games at Madejski Stadium with lots of goals which is really entertaining, but our fans want results as well. That's what we're in the business for. It's possible to take satisfaction
from matching a team like Manchester United - look at the finances and budgets we're up against. But myself and the players want to win”, McDermott added.
The Royals are currently sitting 19th in the league standings, four points adrift of the safety zone, and the former Cardiff City midfielder has insisted that he is trying his best to turn around his side’s fortune.
“I'm doing the best I possibly can every day, as are the players. We're trying to win games. I know they can do it, they've proved it in the past”, McDermott concluded.
The 51-year-old tactician, who took the reins of the Royals at the start of the 2009/10 season, has won the hearts of several fans by guiding his side to secure impressive results. However, the Englishman must turn around his side’s fortune at the earliest
if he wants to remain a favourite among the Royals fans.
Reading will take on Southampton in their upcoming league game at St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday, December 8.
