Brian McDermott says Jamie Jones-Buchanan is an incredible servant for Leeds Rhinos
While talking to the official website of Leeds Rhinos about the extension of Jamie Jones-Buchanan’s term at the club for three more years, on December 9, Leeds coach Brian McDermott expressed his delight over the latest development at the club.
McDermott acknowledged the player’s out of ordinary ability to perform well on field. While speaking highly of his on-field brilliance, coach said, "Jamie has been an incredible servant to Leeds Rhinos over a long period. He is someone who endured some hard
times in his early years but since 2004, he has never looked back and is a perfect example to our younger players. He was outstanding for us last season and a huge part of our success. He is someone who looks after himself away from training and there is no
reason why he cannot perform at the highest level for many years to come."
The player’s profile is the fitting example of persistence at its best, because ever since he started his rugby league career with the club, back in 1999, he never looked back. His elaborate stint at the club featured him in a total of 226 games where he
had amassed 204 points and had 51 tries to his credit. However, it was not a success story since the very start as a lot of struggle had gone into making a track record. From 2004 onwards, the English second rower had stepped into a brand new chapter of his
rugby league career, which featured him in all five Super League Grand Final victories for Leeds.
After spending so many years at the club, the player is all set to sign off from his long-term association with the Rhinos on a much higher note by bringing in more silverware. It appeared that the Buchanan will be playing his concluding years on rugby field
and all he is aiming for is nothing less than big victories. He himself admitted that winning big games is very addictive and said that any player who had once experienced it would never settle for anything less.
While discussing his agenda over the recently agreed to three-year-deal with Rhinos, Buchanan said that he was not at all worried about his age because he believes that as long as he is physically fit, he will continue to play. He also shared that the younger
lot at the club is a source of inspiration for the senior players, who could easily lead to Challenge Cup glory for the club.
It will be interesting to see how well the player wraps-up his elongated stint with Rhinos. Buchanan is all pumped to bring in the most prestigious of all silverware before he decides to hang up his boots.
