Rugby Update: Brian Mujati and Brett Sharman extend their contracts with Northampton Saints
Tight-head prop Brian Mujati and hooker Brett Sharman have signed new contracts with their current club, the Northampton Saints.
Both the players have been part of the Northampton Saints’ squad since 2009, when they first joined the club and their contributions to the club have been exceptional.
26-year old Brian Mujati, who has played 38 matches for his club, has been performing marvelously during the current season and he is the most prominent player of the season for his club. Mujati, who has also played 12 international
test matches for his country, South Africa, was very pleased with his contract’s extension.
He said, "I have been made to feel very welcome by everyone at the club and in the town. I am certainly happy to sign on again with the Saints. We have had some success but we are still improving as a squad and I am sure that there
will be more to come in the near future."
On the other hand, the 23-year old hooker, Brett Sharman was also very delighted with his contract’s extension and said it was a very easy decision for him as everything at the club is ideal. Sharman has played 45 matches for his
club and he was also declared man of the match in the Saints’ last month win over Newcastle.
Sharman said, "It was a very easy decision to sign again. The club's going in the right direction and I want to be a part of that in the future. The coaches have taught me a lot since I have been here and it seems to be paying
off now, and hopefully this will continue in the future."
Saints’ director of rugby, Jim Mallinder also talked to media about the contracts’ extension of both the players and thanked them for extending the contracts. He said both the players have improved a lot and their performances
reflect their improvement. It was very important for the club to retain both the players and keep the team combination, which the club succeeded to do.
Undoubtedly, it was very important for the Saints, who are standing at first place in the Aviva Premiership table this year and only lost 1 match out of 9 matches they played, to retain the services of both the players who have
been played a major role in the Saints’ success.
